After walking to my room last night thoroughly unfulfilled at 12:30ish I came across a pile of my own stuff on my bed. Such as advil, multivitamins, etc that I was storing on a shelf. Said shelf now held my roommate’s junk. Now, we rotate beds every week and I have moved my stuff accordingly except for this time because all areas around my currently designed bed are filled up with other people’s junk- including that of the knob who just tossed my stuff on my bed.
Now, this lack of respect would not have bothered me if:
-she didn’t take stuff under my bed and pile it on top of my bed (because she didn’t like that close?)
-my cellphone charger hadn’t been unplugged because they didn’t want to use the outlet hole right above it that wasn’t taken
-my stuff wasn’t thrown all over the place and my bed messed up when I am gone too long
-i suspect my roommates of stealing my $ (which I realized was missing yesterday)
-and of course…if only I wasn’t already pissed off ^_^
But really, it got me thinking. One of the reasons I didn’t wanna go to DC is that I viewed it to be for academic rejects…and everyone here feels like high school quality. Now, I think my team is great so I am not talking about them. But generally- people here aren’t that smart and aren’t that nice here. When they are drunk, yeah they’re fun…but I am definitely out of the niche when sober. And niches like this aren’t for college.
We played baruit with water today and at least 2-3 people treated me as though I was drunk despite the fact that I wasn’t acting it and wasn’t drunk at all. If they knew I wasn’t drunk- then they were treating me like a 5yr old. Generally I like being respected as much as I respect other people- and it’s not happening.
Maybe it’s because I don’t hang out with them constantly because I don’t like soap operas, I play video games and like metal [we don’t have anything in common]. But that is no excuse, my roommates back home treat me with plenty of respect even though we don’t have much in common either. Maybe it’s because John walks into my room without saying hi and they’re jealous of the attention I get. They know John is not my bf, which makes his attention even more surprising to people I am sure. They are probably aware that my dinner and entertainment is free a lot of the time.
But really- I am just speculating. I don’t really know. I only know that my current reality doesn’t feel very fair and this is merely one aspect.
Anger blogs are better then sad blogs at least.
